Prison Fellowship of Maharashtra (PFOM) has been established with the sole purpose of reaching out to the 20,000 plus prisoners located throughout the jails in Maharashtra.  Under the auspices of Vishrantwadi Believers’ Fellowship, Pune, PFOM aims to transform the lives of these inmates who are virtually rejected by society and cut off from the outside world.
Only the transforming word of God through the gospel of Jesus Christ can help us achieve a feat of this magnitude.  However, given the complex situation of an individual relegated behind the bars, convicted or otherwise, this mission involves, apart from evangelism, issues such as legal, financial, rehabilitation, health, etc.  Through these activities PFOM aims to restore a prisoner socially, morally, and spiritually.
PFOM plans for rehabilitation of released prisoners.  Data on their various skills and capabilities are analyzed and plans are afoot to set up a Rehabilitation Center to make released prisoners self-employed; however, this project will also help consolidate our aim of enabling the prisoners to be stabilized in their mind-changing process.  We are constantly trying to bring them into the mainline society as acceptable individuals.  We are also working out strategies to help them relive a good family life.
